As much as the steadfast mechanical movement is reminiscent of a small miracle, in the end it is the result of a very real, admittedly wonderful and centuries old traditional craft. Watchmaking today still is complex  micro-mechanics. For Marcello C., this means applying the highest grade of precision engineering – Swiss made. To take all ingredients, a large number of tiny parts such as the dial, hands, case, crystal, screws, a dozen gears and round them up for assembly. And the highest form of craftsmanship is manifested in the  Chronograph (Greek chronos = "time" and graphô = "I write").

In 1822, the Frenchman Rieussec registered a patent for the first stop watch, the chronograph. A simple plotting mechanism registered time passed on a rotating dial through lines and dots. This enabled measurements of the duration between the beginning and the end of an event, e.g. between the start and the crossing of the finish line at a 100 yard race.

40 years later, the mechanism was successfully implemented inside a pocket watch. The modern chronograph was born. Even today, a Chronograph is a watch with an additional register for seconds, minutes and, depending on the model, even for elapsed hours. Inside the movement, a special mechanism allows starting of the chronograph, stopping and resetting it back to the zero position without affecting the performance of the actual movement itself. This way, the duration of measured time intervals can be directly indicated.
